Whatever you do, get the upholstery shop to recover the seat with marine grade materials. Standard weight doesn't hold up well in the southern USA, even worse where you are due to the heat and dust. Have them use stainless steel staples for the cover attachment. You can slim down the p-pad or seat at home with a bread knife, either manual or electric. Conchos and studs get hot enough to brand you if you aren't careful during the summer months. To have it completely redone professionally is going to run about $100 if you have the shop install a bunch of trim. If you want it in leather, send it to Danny Gray in California, best custom seats in the world, and he uses European leather, so there are no barbed wire scars in it.
